CT HEAD WITHOUT CONTRAST:

CLINICAL HISTORY: 14-year-old with trauma.

FINDINGS:

Parenchyma, ventricles, and extra-axial spaces: There is a lentiform extra-axial collection overlying the right parietal occipital convexity extending behind the transverse sinus to the right posterior fossa, compatible with epidural hemorrhage. Hemorrhage measures 6.3 x 2.1 cm in greatest transaxial dimension (series 2 image 11). There is associated hairline nondisplaced fracture of the lambdoid suture underlying epidural hemorrhage. No other evidence of intracranial hemorrhage is seen. Mild mass effect on the underlying cerebellar hemisphere with effacement of the fourth ventricle and right ambient cistern.

Visualized paranasal sinuses: Minor mucosal thickening in the right maxillary sinus.

Mastoid air cells: Clear.

Bones: Hairline fracture extending along the right lambdoid suture.

Additional comment: Right parietal scalp hematoma overlying skull fracture.

IMPRESSION:

1. Acute right parietal-occipital and posterior fossa epidural hematoma, underlying nondisplaced skull fracture.

(Posterior venous epidural hematoma)
