Neuro_CT_Head: 5 M, left ear pain and fever.

CT HEAD WITHOUT CONTRAST:
 
HISTORY: 5-year-old male with left ear infection and concern for abscess.
 
FINDINGS: 
 
There is fluid within the left middle ear, mastoid air cells, and external auditory canal. Fat stranding within the soft tissues overlying the left mastoid, indicating soft tissue infection and/or inflammation.

Hypoattenuating area with a focus of gas measures 3 cm and extends from the left temporal lobe to the left parietal lobe. Associated mass effect with effacement of the adjacent sulci and temporal horn of the left lateral ventricle. No midline shift.

Multiple reactive lymph nodes in the left periauricular, periparotid, and upper jugulodigastric stations.
 
IMPRESSION: 
 
1.  Left tympanomastoiditis with 3.0 x 1.7 x 2.5 cm left temporal lobe brain abscess.
