Neuro_CT_Head: 4 mo M, ATLE, aspiration.

CT HEAD WITHOUT CONTRAST:
 
CLINICAL HISTORY: 4-month-old male with acute life threatening, aspiration event, respiratory failure.

FINDINGS: 
 
Diffuse hypoattenuation of the caudate, putamen, and cerebral cortex. Cerebral sulci are effaced. 
There is no herniation. There is no acute intracranial hemorrhage. 
There is no ventriculomegaly. 
No abnormal extracerebral collections are present. 
The anterior fontanelle is bulging
No skull fractures are present. 
 
IMPRESSION: 
 
1.  Diffuse cerebral injury and edema. Consider hypoxic/ischemic causes, other primary or secondary causes of energy failure, or infectious process.  MRI brain may be considered to further characterize. 
 
2.  Imaging findings may not distinguish accidental or nonaccidental trauma, or other predisposing or complicating conditions.  Please correlate with appropriate clinical history.
