Neuro_MR_Brain: Newborn with poor feeding and tone.

MRI BRAIN WITH AND WITHOUT CONTRAST:
 
CLINICAL HISTORY: 19 days of age, Female, poor feeding, jerking movements, low tone.
 
FINDINGS: 
 
There is reduced diffusion within the ventrolateral thalami and posterior limbs of the internal capsule bilaterally extending superiorly into the corona radiata and inferiorly into the midbrain, ventral pons and tegmental regions and cerebellum bilaterally with associated T2 abnormality.
The cerebral white matter has some signal abnormality, which may represent a combination of edema and injury. 
There is mild enlargement of the extra-axial CSF spaces, with widening of the fissures and prominence of the ventricles. 
There is no mass or hemorrhage. 
There is no abnormal enhancement. 
No abnormal extracerebral collections are present. 
The orbital contents are without abnormality. 
The visualized paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are clear. 
 
IMPRESSION: 
 
1.  Findings of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, as above.
