MRI CERVICAL SPINE WITHOUT CONTRAST:
CLINICAL HISTORY: 27-year-old man with hemorrhagic lesion in the cervical spine, preoperative planning.
FINDINGS:
Cord:
In the central cord at the C5-C6 level, there is a heterogeneous lesion which demonstrates blooming on gradient imaging, compatible with hemorrhage, signal characteristics slightly different from prior which likely represents evolution of prior hemorrhage.
Tubular T2 hyperintensity is seen inferiorly and to a lesser degree
superiorly from the hemorrhage. No new lesions identified.
Alignment: Normal.
Bone marrow: Normal for age.
Vertebrae: No significant degenerative change.
C2-C3: Normal.
C3-C4: Normal.
C4-C5: Normal.
C5-C6: Normal.
C6-C7: Normal.
C7-T1: Normal.
Extra-vertebral soft tissues: Normal.
Visualized brain: Normal.
Additional comment: None.
Impression
IMPRESSION:
1. Intramedullary hemorrhage at the C5-C6 level, with surrounding T2 abnormality inferiorly greater than superiorly. Slight interval change in signal characteristics from prior exam likely due to evolution of blood products.
